the little journal ROMANCE issue will be published in March 2025 by Writing WA and Night Parrot Press and feature new flash fiction romance by Western Australian writers. The journal will be guest edited by best-selling, renowned romance author Eliza Redgold (Elizabeth Reid Boyd, co-founder of Love Studies at ECU) along with series editors Laura Keenan and Linda Martin from Night Parrot Press.
For our ROMANCE issue, we are seeking stories that flirt with the traditional romance genre, pushing boundaries and offering fresh takes on relationships. We want to celebrate tender and passionate frissons between traditional and non-traditional partners. We are looking for stories that lift our spirits, challenge expectations, and celebrate love in all its forms as a complex human emotion.
We invite all Western Australian authors from all backgrounds to submit one unpublished creative piece of 750 words or fewer by 30 November 2024.
This project will be supported by Edith Cowan University and private donors.

- Entry is free and open to anyone over the age of 18 living in Western Australia.
- Please ensure your entry is attached as a Word Document and does not include your name or anything that can identify who you are.
- Contributors published in the book will be paid $50 and will receive a free copy of the journal.
- Additional copies of the journal will be available for purchase.
- Copyright remains with the author of each published piece.
- All submissions will be blind reviewed.
